These awesome organisations choose to call Waiora home. They have a shared understanding of what it means to serve the community well and support each others mahi.

Alongside our resident members we also have approximately 40 non-resident Connection Member organisations that contribute to the services we can offer our community.

  • Age Conern

    Age Concern promotes wellbeing, rights, respect and dignity for older people.

    He mahi mō ngā tika me te oranga o te hunga kaumātua.

    The work of Age Concern New Zealand is based on these values, with special reference to older people, koroua and kuia. Dignity, Well being, Equity and Cultural Respect.

  • Awhina Food Bank

    Emergency assistance for a food parcel. The Foodbank service is free although, when you are able, we ask that you give back to the Foodbank. The Taupō Community Food bank distributes Christmas presents to children who may not otherwise receive any gifts. Christmas baskets are also made up for the elderly who may be on their own or have no family in Taupō at Christmas with special treats for them.

    Taupō Women’s Refuge provide plans and walk alongside women through their journey of positive change. We support, and provide advice & education 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

  • Citizens Advice Bureau

    Taku pou whakawhirinaki i ngā wā o te porotaika - My source of strength in moments of adversity

    We provide free, confidential, independent information and advice to anyone. We help people know what their rights are and how to access services they need. We use insights from our clients' experiences to show when policies and laws and/or their implementation are having a negative impact on people. We work for positive social change. We are an independent community organisation whose service is delivered by over 2,000 committed and trained volunteers.

  • Taupō Council of Social Services

    Behind the scenes of every small town in New Zealand, there’s an army of volunteers and workers who keep the wheels turning.

    In Taupō there are over 70 different organisations dedicated to helping people with different aspects of their lives – whether that’s budgeting services, health support groups, youth workers, drug and alcohol counsellors or those offering relationship advice.

    The Taupō Council of Social Services is the ‘glue’ that connects these different groups together. Since 1993 they have hosted monthly networking meetings and provided the chance for people to collaborate within their own areas of interest.

    Neighbourhood Support New Zealand is a registered charity, and since 1999 we have been working alongside New Zealand Police and other partners to equip neighbourhoods to improve safety and connectedness, get prepared for emergencies, and support one another so that our communities are great places to live.

    Progress to Health is a community based organisation supporting people with long-term mental health conditions or disabilities throughout the Waikato, Taranaki and Taupo.

    With expertise in mental well-being, we work to support people to make positive changes in their lives by achieving personal goals and reconnecting with their community.

    We place an emphasis on supporting and developing your strengths through individual or group activities that enhance mental and physical well-being. All Progress to Health services are underpinned by the Code of Health and Disability Consumers Rights (the code).
